Backpacks for Literacy
Literacy Now volunteers spent an entertaining evening stuffing 400 backpacks with books and supplies intended to help young children and their families enjoy reading.
The bags will be placed with daycares, the public library, Strong Start Centres and in other places frequented by children aged 0 - 6. Children may borrow a backpack to take home and read the books with their families. Then they bring them back to trade in for another, and more reading fun.
